Yesterday I said I would write about creating a tool box with a handle, so that is just what I plan to do. The reason I made it in the first place was to increase my efficiency in building and the nails (Which I am making tomorrow) are a stronger way of holding structures and wooden planks together. Now this was not made for any clients or customers, just for me. The first thing I did was get some maple (A type of wood) planks. I needed four that were two hands long and one hand wide. One would serve as the base of the toolbox and two would become the two longer sides of the box.
Since, in the past few days, I have been making things that were already invented I decided to invent something myself. I call it “The Wheel”. Now before you go and say that I copied the Mesopotamians, think about the fact that I have never made a wheel and I just figured out what it looks like. Anyway, I have gotten a lot of orders from StoneAgeProductions.neolithic so I am going to make some more. The first thing I did was get some flat, sturdy wood from George(The Logger).
Have you heard of the old and mysterious game of Sudoku? Sudoku is an easy game that is all about finding patterns. All you need is a Sudoku app or a written game and then you are ready.
How, and why do you play? The goal of Sudoku is to fill out a nine by nine grid with numbers from one to nine. There are smaller three by three squares inside of the main grid. Each of these three by three squares has the numbers one to nine. The rows and columns are also made up of numbers from one to nine. If one number is in the same row or column as another of the same number than there is a problem. This can't happen. It was the year 1640. There was a rumor that there was one million dollars in a ghost ship out at sea. Captain Troy was the first to respond. He walked down the crooked alleyway to his house. After opening the door he was greeted by a cloud of dust. He had a long winding stairwell that circled all the way to his study.
In his study he had piles upon piles of maps covering his desk and the floor. He looked for the map of the Atlantic Ocean. After an hour of searching, he came upon the map. He had heard that the ghost ship was near Britain. After studying the patterns of the wind and the current, he deduced that the ship should pass through his dock very soon! He rushed to get his lantern and he called for his son Jimmy and they ran through alleyways and made winding turns but they finally made it! They didn't see the ship in the fog but Captain Troy was determined to get the loot. He was about to turn but he turned back swinging the lantern. The lantern dropped from his hand and smashed as the ship emerged from the fog. He carried Jimmy over to the ship but as soon as he got to the ship it had vanished. As it disappeared behind the fog he was yelling out in the night, calling to all that would join him on this great adventure. A few weary sailors hobbled out onto the deck of his ship and Captain Troy commanded them to steer to starboard (right) down the canal. As they made their way against the current the waves were growing rapidly! Suddenly, a large wave crashed against the side weakening the port hull. As everyone aboard tried to secure the hull another enormous wave struck the crack in the hull and the boat groaned as all of the crew got away. The second Captain Troy got to the fracture, the two halves tore apart! They attempted to patch up the ship, but to no avail. As they could only hope for the best they needed to stop so they wouldn't sink. The only choice was to run aground. Although it could easily destroy the ship it was their only chance. There was a sand bar ahead so they kept their heading straight, and they surged forward. The second they made contact everyone was just hoping, hoping that they would survive. They made it. Everyone was relieved until Captain Troy announced that he was going to call the ship with their last lantern. He swung the lantern and the ship appeared out of the fog. They began to lower the ladder but a huge wave smashed the ladder into the hull and it cracked to a state beyond any use. The only remaining option was to jump into the ship. They all made it except for the cook, who feel it and drowned. The ship was slowly getting lower but they could sail it back. Captain Troy was fair and decided that he wouldn't look for the treasure until they got back but his greed was just too much for him. He opened the treasure chest, only to be immensely disappointed. There were but a few pieces of stone in the chest. He was so surprised by this that he was driven to insanity and he fled the ship, never to be seen again. As for the sailors, the chest rewarded them with endless riches for completing the journey and being good natured and patient. A plaque was later given for their bravery and patience and finding the ghost ship. Hammurabi was born around 1810 BC in the Mesopotamian city-state of Babylon. His father, Sin-Muballit, was king of Babylon. When Hammurabi became eighteen, his father became ill and he died. Hammurabi was crowned king of the city-state of Babylon. He vastly improved Babylon by establishing treaties and he worked to improve the defenses and infrastructure of the city. A few years later, Elam sieged war on Babylon and Hammurabi crushed them! After conquering Larsa he moved north and conquered the rest of Mesopotamia. Even after conquering Mesopotamia he still didn’t feel like he was done so he built new canals, aqueducts, and temples. He also developed a set of laws called the Code of Hammurabi. These laws were carved into stone columns called stelae that everyone could read. The laws and their punishments were equal, for example, “An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth”.
My legs felt like noodles as I walked to camp. It was my first day of the two weeks I would be there. I was trudging up the tall hill to the main building and after my mom filled out some forms, I was guided towards the fields with an occasional tree around it. I saw that I wasn't alone but I was nervous and wasn't interested in making friends. The buildings were on a college campus and the buildings had a very old look. While on the outside they appeared gothic, they were fairly
I'm still tired from yesterday but what I made Timmy's hut out of gives me an idea. I'll try pottery. I need some better mud than what I used yesterday. The reason for this is that plain mud with crack over time, losing integrity. I think I have found a solution to the problem. If I add plant fibers to the mud it will bind it together. With this in mind I'm going off to the creek to get some mud and some plant fibers. After bringing it back to my hut I mixed it together on a large slab of stone. I pulled the mud into pieces and started shaping it. Since I need water I think I will make a basket shaped bowl. First, I need some more water so I gather it in a bark basket that sort of leaks. I put water on my hands and started shaping the mud. I use my fingers to spread the mud into a basket shape and put in a fire I made with some flint. After a long while it was done. I could now carry water from place to place. I am successful in today's goal. Today was very productive!
