In the beginning, a boy named Jason Grace wakes up in a school bus, not knowing where he is, or remembering anything. Next, he meets a girl named Piper and a boy named Leo who both claim that they remember him being there. The "man" in charge is named Coach Hedge. They are going on a field trip to the Grand Canyon and they walk onto a big glass walkway. Then, a giant thunderstorm monster attacks them and fights with coach hedge. Jason, Piper, and Leo are rescued and taken back to camp Half-Blood! Once they arrive, they learn that they are demigods, or half human, half god. Then, Leo gets claimed by Hephaestus and works on a mechanical dragon named Festus. After that, Jason and Piper get a vision and they go on a quest to "save" Hera (A goddess) with Leo! They fly on Festus, but not for long, as they crash land in a warehouse. They quickly encounter some dangerous Cyclopes that capture both Piper and Jason so Leo is the only one left. He uses his special mechanical and fire powers to defeat them and save Piper and Jason. Then they learn that Gaea, the Earth Mother, is waking which is apparently very bad. Everyone finds out that they have superpowers and Piper's father was captured by Enceladus. The three then have an epic battle and save Piper's father. Furthermore, there is an ever crazier battle with some wolves and air spirits. Then, Hera is saved and for everyone's safety, Gaea doesn't wake up. Most importantly, they find out that Jason actually belongs to a group of Roman demigods. The main character is Jason Grace, and he has "lost" his memory. All his memory was taken by Hera in order to get him to save her, but it also serves to keep the rest of his life from him. He actually comes from a Roman group of demigods, but of course he doesn't figure this out until he gets his memory back. It also is giving a preview about the next book, in which Percy Jackson is in the Roman camp and a similar thing happens. Everyone in each camp is looking for their lost camper, who is the other camp. The title is really interesting because it is really talking about both of the "lost" heroes that are lost in the opposite camp. Even though it is about Jason Grace it give some insight about the next book! It was very good as it had many references to Greek and Roman mythology. It was adventure packed with epic fights, plot twists, and suspenseful scenes. I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars because of it's length, as it has a little too much action and events for one book. Recommendation: I recommend this book to anyone interested in Greek and Roman mythology. If you are into action and adventure, this book is definitely for you! |
