The Tao Of Pooh The Tao Of Pooh, by Benjamin Hoff, is a deeply philosophical book explaining Taoism through the world of Winnie the pooh. In this story we go on an adventure from the view of Christopher Robin. At the beginning we learn about what Tao is and its most basic elements. In the later chapters we learn the more advanced concepts of Taoism. One of the most important concepts of Taoism. This is known as P’u or “The Uncarved Block”. This means nature in its natural state, or just simplicity. In the chapter “Spelling Tuesday” we learn, from the Taoist perspective, many scholars were Confucianist, or as Pooh calls it, “Confusionist”. From this, comes the concept that “The Wise are not Learned and the Learned are not Wise”. This means the wise do not spend their time learning but only understanding and working with the ways of nature. I suggest this book to anyone that thinks philosophically or just needs a thoughtful book to read. |
